Wag n' Swag is owned by a Latina groomer from the Los Feliz and Silver Lake neighbourhood, and much of the team came up through the salon, several of them starting as receptionists or bathers before they were groomers.

They take the view that a coat in poor condition is a chance to show an owner how to keep on top of it at home, not something to be judged for.

A big pup fee may be charged for a dog over 100 lbs. Teeth brushing and nail grinding come included with the package add-ons.

At the first visit the salon asks to see expiry dates for rabies, bordetella and parvo, with exceptions made for a puppy's age or a health condition; a la carte services are exempt.

Arriving on time matters here. Past the twenty minute mark a $15 late fee may be added if they can still take the dog, and after thirty minutes the appointment is cancelled and marked a no-show.

Pups are picked up within an hour of the call saying they are ready. This is not a boarding facility and kennel space is limited, so a long wait or an overnight stay can carry a kennel fee.

A dog adopted in the last thirty days gets 25% off its freedom groom.
