Cancellations & No-Shows
Last updated: August 21, 2026
A booking made through PawsRx is a real appointment. The practice holds that time for you and turns other pets away from it, so we expect you to make every effort to be there. When you book a live time you confirm this in writing before the booking goes through. We help you keep the promise too: your confirmation email carries a calendar invite you can add to Google, Apple or Outlook, and we email you a reminder before the visit.
If your plans change
- Need a different time? Reschedule from your dashboard, free, up to 24 hours before the visit. The booking and any deposit move to the new time; nothing is charged or refunded, and the practice is told right away.
- Cancelling more than 24 hours before the visit: cancel from your dashboard, free. If you paid a deposit it is refunded in full, automatically, and the practice is notified right away.
- Within 24 hours of the visit:online changes close and everything goes through the practice. Call them and they will sort it out. Whether a late cancellation is refunded is the practice's decision, so the earlier you call, the better.
Deposits
Some practices take a deposit when you book. It is charged at booking and credited against your bill at the visit, so it is not an extra cost if you show up. Cancel with 24 hours or more of notice and it comes back in full. If the practice cancels your appointment for any reason, it also comes back in full. Details on how refunds are issued are on our refunds page.
No-shows
Not turning up for an appointment, without cancelling or calling, is a no-show. No-shows keep other pets from being seen and cost the practice the time it held for you. If you no-show:
- Any deposit stays with the practice for the time it held.
- The practice may decline to book you again.
- Repeated no-shows or frequent last-minute cancellations can lead us to limit or close your PawsRx account.
Emergencies happen
If something urgent stops you from coming, call the practice as early as you can. Veterinary teams understand real emergencies better than most. It is silence, not the emergency, that costs you their trust.
For practices
The diary you run on PawsRx is protected four ways. Every online booking requires the client to tick a written commitment before it goes through. If you take a deposit, it is charged the moment they book, and it stays with you if a new client never arrives. Clients get a calendar invite with their confirmation and a reminder email before the visit. And you are emailed the moment a client cancels or moves a booking, so the time goes back on sale instead of sitting empty. If a client repeatedly books and fails to show, email hello@pawsrx.io and we will review their account.
