Terms of Service
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Welcome to PawsRx. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PawsRx website, platform, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by PawsRx, LLC ("PawsRx," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
PawsRx is a technology platform for pet care. We operate a community for pet parents, an Ask a Vet question service, a directory of licensed veterinarians, and booking and storefront tools for independent veterinary providers.
PawsRx is not a veterinary practice and not a pharmacy. We do not employ veterinarians, we do not provide veterinary medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and we do not sell, dispense, or ship medication. All clinical decisions are made by independent, licensed veterinarians.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time, and continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use PawsRx. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
PawsRx is available throughout the United States. The directory lists veterinary practices in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Whether a particular veterinarian may provide services to you can depend on the laws of the state where your animal is located, and each provider is responsible for complying with them.
4. Account Registration and Security
To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately at hello@pawsrx.io if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5. Accounts and Billing
Free consumer accounts.PawsRx accounts are free for pet parents and include Ask a Vet (private questions answered by independent licensed veterinarians), the PawsRx Community, and the Vet Center directory and booking tools. Ask a Vet provides general veterinary guidance only — it does not include diagnosis, treatment, or prescriptions, and is not intended to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Appointments booked through the Vet Center are provided and billed by the veterinarian or practice you select, not by PawsRx. Where a practice asks for a deposit, it is charged at the time of booking and credited against your bill at the visit; cancel 24 hours or more before the appointment and it is refunded in full. See our cancellations and no-shows policy.
No consumer subscriptions. PawsRx does not offer any consumer subscription, membership, or recurring plan, and nothing is billed to pet owners on a recurring basis. Online payments, where offered, are processed by Stripe, our payment processor.
6. Medical Disclaimer
PawsRx is a technology platform, not a veterinary practice. We do not provide veterinary medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All clinical assessments and prescribing decisions are made solely by independent, licensed veterinarians who use the PawsRx platform.
The Service is not a substitute for in-person veterinary care. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please contact your local emergency veterinary clinic immediately.
7. No Guarantee of Prescription or Outcome
PawsRx does not guarantee that a veterinary consultation will result in a prescription. All prescribing decisions are made solely by independent licensed veterinarians based on their professional clinical judgment. A veterinarian may decline to prescribe medication for any reason, including but not limited to insufficient information, safety concerns, or a determination that an in-person examination is required.
PawsRx does not guarantee any specific health outcome for your pet. Individual results may vary. The Service is not a substitute for emergency veterinary care or in-person veterinary examinations when clinically indicated.
8. No Medication Sales
PawsRx does not sell, dispense, ship, or fulfill medication of any kind, and no medication can be purchased through the Service. PawsRx previously offered compounded medication subscription plans; that offering was discontinued in 2026 and is no longer available. Any prescription your veterinarian issues is filled by the pharmacy you and your veterinarian choose, outside the Service, and any information on the platform about medication is general information only, not medical advice.
9. Practice Fees and Client Charges
PawsRx charges participating practices a one-time booking fee when it introduces a new client. That fee is a fixed amount agreed in advance. It is never a percentage of what a practice charges for care, and it does not vary with the treatment a pet receives.
A practice may set and charge its own generally applicable prices, appointment deposits, cancellation fees, and no-show fees, exactly as it would for any other client. A practice may not charge a client any additional fee, surcharge, or deposit solely because the client booked through PawsRx, or for the purpose of passing through any fee PawsRx charges the practice. A client who books through PawsRx must not pay more than a client who walks in.
We enforce this through these terms, through client complaints, and through periodic checks. Charging a PawsRx-specific surcharge is grounds for removal from the Service. If you believe you were charged one, tell us at hello@pawsrx.io.
10. Veterinarians on PawsRx
You answer as an independent professional. Veterinarians using PawsRx are independent practitioners, not PawsRx employees, agents, or contractors. PawsRx does not direct, review, or approve clinical content, does not practice veterinary medicine, and does not hold itself out as responsible for your professional judgment.
Answers are general information, not a VCPR. Every answer published through the Service carries a notice stating that it was written without examining the animal, that it is general information rather than a diagnosis or prescription, and that it is not intended to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. That notice is attached automatically and cannot be removed by the person asking or by the veterinarian answering.
What PawsRx covers.PawsRx will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless a veterinarian in good standing on the Service against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs to the extent they arise from PawsRx's own acts or omissions in operating the Service. That includes how we display, edit, excerpt, publish, or promote an answer, the adequacy of the notices we attach to it, our handling of personal information, and any claim that the Service itself was operated unlawfully. To claim it, tell us promptly at hello@pawsrx.io, let us control the defense of the covered claim, and cooperate with it.
What it does not cover. This does not extend to your own clinical judgment or to the substance of the advice you give, to care you provide off the Service, to practising outside the scope of your license or in a jurisdiction where you are not licensed, to diagnosing or prescribing for an animal you have not examined where the law requires a VCPR, or to your own fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct. Nothing here is a promise that you will not be named in a claim, and nothing here replaces your own professional liability insurance, which you should confirm covers non-VCPR educational content.
11. User Responsibilities
When using PawsRx, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information about your pet's health history, symptoms, and current medications.
- Follow the instructions and recommendations provided by your veterinarian.
- Follow your veterinarian's directions for your pet's care and report any concerns to them promptly.
- Use the Service only for its intended purpose and not for any unlawful activity.
- Not share your account credentials or allow others to access the Service through your account.
12. User Content, Vet Answers, and Community Posts
The Service hosts content created by its users: questions and Ask a Vet answers, community posts and replies, reviews, and veterinarian profile pages (collectively, "User Content"). User Content is the sole responsibility of the person or practice that created it.
PawsRx does not create, author, review, verify, approve, or endorse User Content, and does not adopt it as its own. We do not pre-screen User Content, and we make no representation or warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any purpose. Any reliance you place on User Content is at your own risk.
Answers provided through Ask a Vet, and any comments posted by veterinarians in the Community, are written by independent licensed veterinarians who have not examined your animal. Such content is general information only. It is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, prescription, or veterinary medical advice regarding your specific animal, and it is not intended to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) between you and the answering veterinarian or between you and PawsRx. Whether a VCPR exists is determined by applicable state law and by the veterinarian's own conduct, not by these Terms. The service is designed so that one does not arise: answers are asynchronous and based only on your written description, no examination takes place, and diagnosis, treatment and prescribing are outside the service. Clinical care, and any VCPR it requires, arises through a separate direct engagement with a veterinarian, which in most states requires an examination of your animal.
You retain ownership of User Content you submit. You grant PawsRx a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, and distribute that content on and in connection with the Service, including in publicly accessible and search-indexed areas such as the public answer library and the Community. You represent that you have the right to grant this license and that your User Content does not infringe the rights of others.
We may, but have no obligation to, remove, edit, or refuse to publish any User Content at our sole discretion, including content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, or that provides specific medication dosing. Removing some content does not create any duty to monitor, review, or remove other content.
13. Independent Providers and No Endorsement
Veterinarians, practices, and other providers listed on or using the Service are independent professionals and businesses. They are not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of PawsRx, and no joint venture, partnership, or employment relationship exists between PawsRx and any provider. Each provider is solely responsible for their own clinical judgment, advice, services, pricing, scheduling, licensure, insurance, records, and compliance with the laws and board rules of every jurisdiction in which they practice.
A listing, profile, search ranking, or "Verified" badge is not an endorsement, recommendation, referral, or guarantee by PawsRx of any provider or of the quality, safety, or legality of their services. "Verified" means only that we confirmed a veterinary license appeared to exist and be active in the state shown at the time of checking. It is not an evaluation of skill, judgment, outcomes, or disciplinary history, and licensure status can change without notice to us.
Appointments, consultations, and any care you obtain are agreements between you and the provider you select. PawsRx is not a party to them, and does not supervise, direct, or control any provider's clinical work. You are responsible for satisfying yourself as to a provider's suitability before engaging them.
14. Intellectual Property
All content, design, branding, software, and other materials on the PawsRx platform are the property of PawsRx, LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any portion of the Service without our prior written consent.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PawsRx, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation, damages related to veterinary care outcomes, medication effects, or any interruption of service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PawsRx is not liable for User Content or for the acts or omissions of any provider or user. This includes, without limitation, any loss, injury, illness, death, or other harm to you, your animal, or any third party arising out of or related to: (a) any answer, post, reply, review, or other User Content, including content written by a veterinarian; (b) any advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, service, or care provided or not provided by any veterinarian, practice, or other provider, whether found through the Service or not; (c) your reliance on any information obtained through the Service; (d) any delay in, or absence of, a response to a question; or (e) any interaction, transaction, or dispute between you and any provider or other user. Any dispute with a provider or another user is between you and them, and you release PawsRx from all claims arising out of such disputes.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to PawsRx in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PawsRx, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; (d) any inaccurate or incomplete information you provide through the Service, including pet health information; (e) any User Content you submit, including any answer, post, reply, or review; or (f) if you are a provider, the services you provide, your professional advice or clinical decisions, and your licensure and regulatory compliance.
17. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved within thirty (30) days, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
You agree that any arbitration shall be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
18. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@pawsrx.io. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our discretion, with reasonable notice where possible.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
19. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
