Good to know

Applehead City Pet has been grooming since 2013 and runs a crate-free, dog-centerd groomery: very few pets in the salon at once, no crates, minimal restraint and one-on-one attention. It uses organic, non-toxic spa products, including its own Modern Herb: Pet line.

The team works with dogs that have trauma, anxiety, groom-fear or health issues, and pre- and post-groom consultations are free. Puppies, new rescues and nervous dogs may get a simpler comfort cut on their first visits while they get used to grooming.

New clients fill in the salon's policy and waiver form before booking. The salon is not taking new large or extra-large double-coated dogs (German Shepherds, Huskies, Akitas, Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees and similar).

    Lick mats

Something to lick, stuck to the tub wall or the floor, keeps a lot of dogs still for a bath or a nail trim.

Hard floors are where older dogs slip. A runner along their usual route gives them grip.
