American Pet Resort & Spa opened in 2004 as American Pet Grooming, a full-service salon for the Foothill Cities and the San Gabriel Valley. Owner Jose Silva built the business from that grooming shop, and as it grew he added a pet hotel, so the 6,000-square-foot building now holds both.

Grooming is cage-free and covers dogs and cats. The packages run from a simple bath and brush to a full styling service cut to the breed's needs and your own specifications, and cats can have a trim or a full style, nail trim included. Teeth brushing, nail trimming and paw trimming may be part of a package or added to any appointment, and the spa treatments, an oatmeal soak for dry irritated skin and a soap-free hypoallergenic wash among them, can be added to any groom.

The prices on the menu are estimates. They depend on hair length, the condition of the coat and the breed, and a pet with a heavy undercoat or mats may need de-matting or extra brushing charges.
