My Pet Garden opened in July 2007 and is run by the same local family today, on one promise: if the staff cannot say something will be great for your pet, they will not offer it. The salon calls its approach ultra gentle grooming. The groomers are animal-behavior people who familiarise a pet with each step of the process, never force it through anything, and skip harsh drying methods. Every groomer has more than ten years of experience, a behavioral specialist is on staff for anxious or reactive dogs, and the facility is climate controlled.

Every groom and bath includes nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, a basic brush and a blow-dry. Full styling needs an appointment, and the salon generally books three to four days out. Nail trims and gland expressions need no appointment: dogs can walk in Monday to Saturday 9 am to 4 pm or Sundays 10 am to 5 pm, and cats Monday to Thursday 9 am to 4 pm. A resident cat groomer handles everything from a walk-in nail trim to a lion cut.

At drop-off you check in at the front desk, go over a short service agreement and the cut you want, and get a text when your pet is ready, usually two to three hours later. New grooming clients get 15 percent off their first bath or groom; mention it when scheduling. The shop also carries holistic, raw and organic foods and supplies for dogs and cats.
