Good to know

Metro Pets is a Fear Free certified grooming salon and boutique led by a certified canine behavioral trainer. The salon follows least-intrusive, minimally aversive handling and positive reinforcement, and every grooming or bathing appointment is one-on-one, so a pet stays with its groomer from start to finish.

The salon is kept calm and quiet, uses eco-friendly, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic products, and works at the pet's pace: very fearful pets may not get a full groom on the first visit, and senior dogs get orthopedic table mats and rest breaks. When matting is severe, the salon shaves it down rather than force a brush out, and always talks it through first. Puppies can start coming in from 8 weeks to get used to grooming. Dogs in heat cannot be groomed.

Dogs need up-to-date distemper vaccines, plus rabies once over 6 months, and cats need rabies and FVRCP; titers are accepted. Metro Pets also has a salon in Lexington.
