Good to know

Barkin' Creek is a family-owned Austin dog spa and dog kitchen with four stores. Every groomer is Fear Free certified, and every bath is a hand wash in a treat-filled room.

The spa accommodates dogs with skin allergies, dryer anxiety or age, with mud baths, conditioning rinses, massage and blow-outs. Anal glands are only expressed externally; if a dog needs more, the groomer recommends a vet and there is no charge for the check.

For creative grooming on curly, double or wire coats, a full groom with the same groomer is required the day before.

Each store also sells the company's own locally made dog meals and treats and curated retail.

The Downtown store in the Rainey district specializes in gentle, soothing care for anxious and senior dogs and dogs with dryer anxiety or sensitive skin.
