Providence Veterinary Hospital

Providence says it was the first animal hospital in Alameda, founded in 1947 when a veterinarian home from World War II began seeing pets in his house and built the hospital underneath it; it is still on that site at 2304 Pacific Ave, remodeled in 2016, and describes itself as locally owned and independent, "not associated with a corporate chain or a multi-location pet store." It runs a second location, Providence Veterinary Clinic on Webster Street in the West End (modernized in 2019), and both the hospital and the clinic are Cat Friendly Practices staffed by Fear Free Certified Professionals.
