A two-hour first appointment with a veterinarian trained in canine rehabilitation and acupuncture. Treatments are generally not performed; the time reviews medical history, imaging, conformation, joint health, range of motion and muscle girth.
Manual therapy conducted and supervised by licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy certified to practice on canines: range of motion, massage, joint mobilization, stretching and soft tissue work to release tension.
CARE uses acupuncture for dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets to reduce pain and inflammation and assist rehabilitation. Points may be stimulated with needles alone, needles with electronic stimulation, laser, or pinpoint injections.
CARE's acupuncture-certified veterinarians perform a comprehensive traditional Chinese Medicine evaluation, using traditional diagnosis including taking pulses, examining the tongue and a thorough patient history to devise a plan.
From the Chinese medicine evaluation, CARE's veterinarians make personalized recommendations on useful Chinese herbs and Traditional Chinese Medicine food therapies.
Buoyancy relieves pressure from the joints and encourages proper movement, supporting flexibility, conditioning, strengthening, core work and cardiovascular health. It also lets CARE's clinicians observe a pet's gait and adjust the treatment plan.
Supervised, one-on-one, purposeful swims in a 20-foot lap pool, for pets that lack the ability to properly bear weight on all four paws. Trained therapy assistants direct and safeguard the pet; the pool uses a chlorine-free alternative sanitizing system.
Exercises for active range of motion, flexibility, coordination, muscular balance and strengthening, focused on core strength, to aid recovery and reduce future injury. Directed by licensed physical therapists certified in canine rehabilitation.
CARE's veterinarians and physical therapists create and continuously update a home exercise program for each pet, posted to the practice's own website, Flexible Pet, with instructions, photos and video demonstrations.
