Emergency and urgent care vets in San Jose, CA
13 practices in San Jose say they take emergency or urgent cases, and 3 say they are open 24 hours. Each one says so on its own website or in its own name.
These practices describe urgent or emergency work on their own websites. That is not the same as being open right now, and it is not the same as a dedicated emergency hospital: hours change, rotas change, and a practice that takes urgent cases on a weekday may not on a Sunday. Phone before you drive. If an animal is in trouble this minute, call the nearest emergency veterinary hospital rather than working down a list.
Say they are open 24 hours 3
South Bay Animal Hospital and Emergency

VEG San Jose
725 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA, 95131
From their website: 24/7
Take urgent cases in their own hours 10
Acacia Pet Clinic
4486 Pearl Ave
From their website: Emergency and urgent cases are handled during regular hours only. The emergency page states "we are not open 24 hours" and that regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm; for after-hours or middle-of-the-night crises it recommends nearby 24-hour emergency animal hospitals and directs callers to its voicemail for where to go.
Canyon Creek Pet Hospital
5617 Silver Creek Valley Rd, San Jose, CA, 95138
From their website: Urgent care only, and only during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM). This location is not an emergency hospital: its own location data lists Urgent Care and Primary Care departments and no emergency department, and the page names no after-hours hospital to go to.
Curtner Pet Clinic & Hospital
189 Curtner Ave Ste 50, San Jose, CA, 95125
From their website: Emergency and urgent care is listed as one of the practice's services and the site asks you to call immediately, but it makes no 24-hour or after-hours claim anywhere. Both of its locations post closing times and show Sunday as closed, so this is emergency care during opening hours. The site does not name an after-hours hospital it refers to.
Ark Veterinary Care
295 N 10th St, San Jose, CA, 95112
From their website: ARK Veterinary Care is a full-service animal hospital and welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care.
ARCHVET Emergency Hospital
824 N Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA, 95128
Animal Medical Center | San Jose
1820 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose, CA, 95124-3026
From their website: Emergencies are seen during opening hours only. The homepage tells owners to bring a pet emergency in "at anytime we are open". The site never states any after-hours, overnight or 24-hour emergency service, and does not name a hospital it refers clients to when it is closed.
Boulevard Pet Hospital
1555 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA, 95128-4337
From their website: The services page says the hospital offers emergency services, but the site publishes no hours anywhere and never says whether emergency care is available outside business hours.
Bloom Plaza Animal Hospital
5647 Snell Ave, San Jose, CA, 95123
From their website: Emergency and urgent cases are taken only during regular hospital hours, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; the practice is closed Saturday and Sunday. The site directs after-hours cases to MedVet Silicon Valley, (408) 649-7070, which it describes as open 24/7.
Evergreen Veterinary Clinic
1611 E Capitol Expressway #205
From their website: Business hours only. The site asks you to call for advice during business hours, and says it may have you come in or refer you to a local 24/7 emergency hospital. After hours it directs people to Sage Centers in Campbell, MedVet Silicon Valley, or Beacon Veterinary Specialists in Fremont.
Willow Glen Pet Hospital
1033 Willow St
From their website: Emergency and urgent care during opening hours only, and not guaranteed: the site says 'Willow Glen Pet Hospital is open 6 days a week. Emergency services depending on Doctor availability. Please phone ahead', and repeats that urgent cases are accommodated based on availability. For after-hours emergencies it refers people to SAGE Centers for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care, 907 Dell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008, 408-343-7243. The practice also performs emergency surgery during its own hours.
