Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center
Equine referral hospital in the Santa Ynez Valley, founded in 1972 by the late Dr. Doug Herthel, who pioneered bone marrow stem cell therapy here in the 1990s. Its Advanced Imaging Center pairs high and low field MRI, PET, CT and standing CT, nuclear scintigraphy, and a 12-camera gait analysis system. Three ACVS board-certified surgeons handle colic to long bone fractures; surgical patients are monitored around the clock, with a warm-water recovery pool and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
