Prices vary by size, weight, coat type, breed and temperament; a $4 material charge is added to every bath, clean-up and groom.

A dog and cat grooming salon on Meridian Avenue in San Jose, offering breed-specific haircuts, sensitive-skin care and oatmeal baths as standard. Anything you would rather skip in a package can be left out on request. The salon is closed on major holidays.

Dogs need current rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines; puppies can come after two to three rounds of core vaccines, usually around 12 weeks, and pets that cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons need a vet's exemption letter. Cats must arrive in a carrier and every cat groom includes a nail trim for safety.

A handling fee may be added for dogs that need extra time or restraint, from $10-$15 for small dogs up to $40-$60 for dogs over 100 lbs. Matted coats are dematted or shaved with your consent. Pets should have a bathroom break before the appointment, since grooms can take two to four hours.
