Every groom is all-inclusive — nails, ears, a bath with two shampoos, stud-tail treatment, blow-dry, sanitary shave, paw-pad shave, and light trimming of pant legs or chest fur if you want it. Price follows the cat's weight.
Catington is a cat-exclusive studio. Every appointment is private and one-on-one, in a scent-neutral room with no barking dogs, no cages and no assembly line. Many of the cats who come here have had a bad grooming experience somewhere else.
Every groom is done entirely by hand. It starts with a short consultation to look over the coat and settle what you want, and working by hand is what allows the detail: she stays close to the cat's breathing and body language through the whole groom and adjusts in real time. If a cat needs a break it gets one. Nothing is restrained, and no cat is forced to finish if it is not safe to continue. Before you leave you look over the work together.
Appointments are spaced on purpose to keep the pace calm and to prevent cross-contamination between cats, and only a few grooms are booked in a day. Most are booked well ahead, because same-day openings are rare. A groom runs about two hours, and drop-off and pick-up are both fine — or you can stay, with a beverage and Wi-Fi. Parking is behind the building.
A cat must be current on its annual veterinary care to book, and a valid rabies vaccination is required for every session. Cats showing signs of illness or injury, or with a history of biting, should not be booked. There is no multi-cat discount: each cat is groomed individually and gets the full appointment.
Sedation is not needed in most cases here, but for a genuinely fearful cat the studio's advice is to talk to your own veterinarian about a mild oral sedative, test it once in advance, and give it yourself as directed before the appointment.
