My ferret has lost about 1–2 pounds and is becoming very skinny

My ferret has lost about 1–2 pounds and is becoming very skinny. She is not walking but is still trying to move. She is not eating too much and drinking a few drops. I can’t afford an in-person vet right now. What could cause this and what can I safely do at home until she can be seen?
