Emergency and urgent care vets in Carlsbad, CA
4 practices in Carlsbad say they take emergency or urgent cases. Each one says so on its own website or in its own name.
These practices describe urgent or emergency work on their own websites. That is not the same as being open right now, and it is not the same as a dedicated emergency hospital: hours change, rotas change, and a practice that takes urgent cases on a weekday may not on a Sunday. Phone before you drive. If an animal is in trouble this minute, call the nearest emergency veterinary hospital rather than working down a list.
Take urgent cases in their own hours 4
Carlsbad Animal Hospital
2739 State St
From their website: Emergency and urgent cases are seen only during regular clinic hours, which the homepage, services page, contact page and emergency page all state. After hours the site directs owners to Veterinary Specialty Hospital on 760-466-0600, which it describes as open evenings, weekends and holidays, and says a pet needing intensive overnight care will be recommended for transfer to a nearby 24/7 animal hospital. The site also warns that wait times are unpredictable and that owners may be sent to the after-hours hospital if a case cannot be fitted into the schedule.
Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital
2700 Gateway Road
From their website: Business hours only. The contact page asks you to call during business hours for any pet emergency so the team can recommend a course of action, and outside business hours it refers people to Veterinary Emergency Group in Encinitas (760-377-6611) and California Veterinary Specialists in Carlsbad (760-431-2273).
Dr. Souther DVM DACT - Reproduction and Neonatology
2505 S Vista Way, Carlsbad, CA, 92008
From their website: Emergencies are seen immediately or on a walk-in basis during regular business hours only, plus limited urgent care hours on weeknights from 6 pm to 7 pm Monday through Friday. The site makes no overnight, after-hours or 24-hour emergency claim.
Sandy Paws Animal Clinic
Judith McClure
7040 Avenida Encinas #109, Carlsbad, CA, 92011
From their website: The services page says that if a pet needs emergency services the clinic will do its best to accommodate, or will refer to Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley or San Marcos if necessary. The clinic hours page sends after-hours emergencies to those same two hospitals, at (858) 875-7500 in San Diego and (760) 466-0600 in San Marcos. The clinic is closed on Sundays.
