Grooms here are done by West Coast Grooming Academy students, supervised at all times by a WCGA Certified Dog Grooming Instructor. Student appointments start at 9:00 am or 1:00 pm, are confirmed by phone within 24 hours of a request, and can take two to four hours; there is no express grooming, no same-day or walk-in student appointments, and no daycare. Certified groomers are also available at a different price when the students are booked or a dog is not a fit for the program.

The first visit is an assessment groom at the regular price; a dog that passes gets up to 50% off its base grooming package from then on, though add-ons, de-shedding, specialty shampoos, matting and flea fees and handling fees are never discounted. The best candidates are well-mannered, easy to handle, in good health, spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines; puppies should have three successful grooms with a certified groomer first.

What the students can do depends on where their class is: baths only in month one, tidy trims and haircuts in month two, haircuts only in month three.

Bring current vaccination records to the first appointment and arrive 10 minutes early for a New Pet Form. A current rabies vaccine is required, dogs that appear ill or injured cannot be accepted, and a flea bath is added whenever fleas are found.

The salon is inside Wallis Annenberg PetSpace and is cashless, so bring a card (cash tips are fine). Parking in the PetSpace lot is free with validation, so hand your ticket to the groomer. Give your dog a potty break before the appointment, since there are no open potty areas right outside PetSpace. Dogs only; cat grooming is not offered at this location.

The academy also teaches its dog groomer certification courses and holds live grooming demonstrations here, and grooms pets from 501(c)(3) shelters and rescues for free.
