Established in 2008, The Shabby Dog is a locally owned dog grooming, daycare and boarding service in Sierra Madre, about seven miles from downtown Pasadena.
Grooming starts by choosing the right bathing products for the dog, then a bath in all-natural, vitamin-rich, hypoallergenic and soap-free shampoo and conditioner and a heat-free blow dry. A groomer then cuts and styles the coat to breed standard, trims nails and expresses glands; shorter summer cuts and other requests are welcome if mentioned in advance, and a dog's own medicated shampoo can be used. Tools are cleaned and sanitised between dogs.
All dogs must be current on vaccines, including canine influenza and leptospirosis. A card is kept on file for every customer, and the SHAB Cab shuttle can pick up and drop off for appointments.
