Cat crying more than usual, preferring soft food and pooping outside the litter box
What they asked
My cat has been crying quite a bit more than normal lately. I had to put his "friend" Sydney down back in April(a female cat who he had been with for about 6 years). But this seems more like a painful cry. He is eating and drinking like normal but he prefers soft food lately over his dry food. He has been defecating outside the litter box more than usual lately.
Sorry to hear about your cat's situation. I'd agree extra vocalizing and going outside the litter box is likely a pain indicator. I'd try to bring him to the vet to see about his teeth or potentially his joints.
