What breed is my dog? Sold as a purebred American pit bull terrier

What they asked

The guy I bought him from said both parents are American pitbull terrier but I didn’t know much about dogs so I bought him. Everyone I walk past weather they know about dogs or not claim he’s pure because of his ears. Can you tell me your best guess at what breed he is or what he’s mixed with

I would say it's an American staffordshire terrier mix. The american kennel club doesn't recognize the american pit bull terrier breed as there is so many different traits. Most of the bully type breeds have floppy ears. He looks to be on the smaller size as well.
