Emergency and urgent care vets in Oakland, CA
4 practices in Oakland say they take emergency or urgent cases, and 1 say it is open 24 hours. Each one says so on its own website or in its own name.
These practices describe urgent or emergency work on their own websites. That is not the same as being open right now, and it is not the same as a dedicated emergency hospital: hours change, rotas change, and a practice that takes urgent cases on a weekday may not on a Sunday. Phone before you drive. If an animal is in trouble this minute, call the nearest emergency veterinary hospital rather than working down a list.

Claremont Veterinary Hospital
5331 College Ave, Oakland, CA, 94618
From their website: Not an emergency hospital. The Urgent Care page says that if your pet experiences a medical emergency you should go to the nearest ER, and names Oak Vet and PETS Referral Center in Berkeley. Urgent same-day appointments are offered only to existing clients, by phone, during business hours; the hospital is closed on weekends.
East Bay Veterinary Clinic
568 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA, 94610
From their website: Emergencies are seen during regular business hours only, and the contact page adds a further limit in the practice's own words: 'During our regular business hours we see urgent care and emergencies based on our staffing and availability.' After hours the site directs clients to Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital (510-848-5041), Pets Referral Center in Berkeley (510-548-6684), or OakVet Animal Specialty Hospital in Oakland.
Creature Comfort Holistic Veterinary Center
2501 MacArthur Blvd
From their website: The practice says it takes emergency as well as less urgent medical, surgical and dental cases, but it publishes no after-hours or 24-hour availability. Its contact block lists two outside After Hours Emergency Centers: OakVet Animal Specialty Hospital in Oakland and PETS Referral Center in Berkeley.
