Nails and Add-Ons

De-matting runs $35 for every 10 minutes, and heavy matting can push a groom into a second session.

Yolanda Gartside had been grooming professionally for ten years when she started her own business in 1997. It grew from one van to two and then three, and the vans are cleaned and disinfected after every family of pets, which keeps kennel cough, fleas and anything else that travels in a kennel out of the picture.

Every groom is the same signature experience. The bath is organic, detergent-, perfume- and alcohol-free, and the pet is washed twice: once to get the dirt off and again to clear dead skin and dander. Then a lavender-infused conditioner for dry, itchy skin, a tea tree or lavender oil massage, teeth brushed with an enzymatic paste, nails trimmed, ears flushed with a veterinary drying solution, a full dry and brush, and a bandana or bow at the end. Anal gland expression is optional and external only.

Cats get the same treatment with lavender oil rather than tea tree. De-matting is not recommended for cats because it is so stressful on them, so a heavily matted cat is usually shaved instead.

Severely matted or very frightened pets may take more than one appointment to finish. The team would rather stop and come back than push a stressed animal through, and any price change during a groom is communicated as soon as it comes up.
