Wash My Dog is owned by Terryl Daluz and Andrea Carter, who opened the doors on 4 May 2019. They had bought a home in the Lakeview Terrace and Pacoima area two years earlier, and with three dogs of their own constantly in need of pampering they went looking for a groomer nearby and found none, driving out to Burbank once a month instead. They watched the strip mall go up on the way home, and Andrea, who had already spent five years working as a groomer, had always wanted a salon of her own. When the businesses started filling in, they took the shot.

It is a full-service grooming salon with a team of certified groomers and bathers. Two bath treatments cover the short-haired dog and the long-haired dog, and styling cuts go on top of a bath. They also bathe and cut cats.

The culture is deliberate: positive energy, a safe space, gratitude, giving, good communication and teamwork. There are words of inspiration on the Doggie Words for the Day board when you walk in, the outdoors is brought inside, and the aim is a tranquil experience for the pets and the people who bring them.

The owners also run Loving Paws Inc., a non-profit that keeps unhoused pets and their people together by bringing grooming, food, bedding and supplies to families experiencing homelessness. They opened a second Valley salon in August 2020.
