Pampered Poochez grooms to the breed, and to the way you like your dog cut.
A session covers the nails, the ears, a shampoo and blow dry, hand brushing, hand scissoring shaped to the breed, and cologne with a bandana or bows at the end.
They suggest coming back every six to eight weeks to keep a coat, nails and ears in shape, and brushing at home daily in between, which is what keeps mats from forming and the loose hair off the furniture.
Whether mats have to be shaved out depends on how bad they are. Minor ones can sometimes be worked out, but severe mats can hide hot spots, dermatitis, cuts, scabs and sores, and it is in the dog's interest to get to them.
The book usually fills one to three weeks ahead, and further out around major holidays, in spring and in early summer.
