Founder Jeanette Canton opened Barking Bubbles in 2017. She is certified in dog grooming and learned to handle elderly, medically restricted and anxious dogs while working in a veterinary hospital. Every dog is groomed one-on-one in a spa suite with chandelier lighting, calming music and gentle aromatherapy, and homeopathic oils are used to ease the stress grooming can bring.

The spa uses paraben- and phosphate-free hypoallergenic shampoos and conditioners, pressure-controlled heated hand blow-drying and hotel-grade cotton towels. First visits start with a complimentary five-to-ten-minute consultation to go over the dog's grooming preferences, temperament and any special needs.

Weight, coat condition, medical needs and the cost are confirmed before work begins. You get a call about 30 minutes before the appointment finishes and have a 15-minute pick-up window; a longer stay is charged at daycare rates. The spa takes no walk-ins and is by appointment only. A seasonal boutique sells clothing, costumes, grooming goodies and accessories.
