Urinary Conditions
Comfort and consistency for chronic urinary issues.
Vet consultation, compounded medication, and free shipping included. Cancel anytime.
Chronic urinary problems — recurring cystitis in cats, incontinence in spayed dogs, crystal-forming tendencies — need consistent long-term management. Missed doses and lapsed refills are exactly how flare-ups happen, and flare-ups can become emergencies, particularly for male cats.
PawsRx keeps management consistent: an independent licensed veterinarian reviews your pet's history and prescribes compounded medication where appropriate, with automatic monthly refills so treatment never lapses.
Signs to look for
- Straining, frequent trips, or crying in the litter box
- Accidents in the house from a previously trained pet
- Blood-tinged urine
- Excessive licking of the urinary area
- Dribbling or leaking during sleep (common in spayed dogs)
- Recurring urinary infections or crystals on past lab work
This list is informational only and is not a diagnosis. Only a licensed veterinarian can evaluate your pet.
How treatment works
Depending on diagnosis and history, the veterinarian may prescribe compounded prazosin, phenoxybenzamine, or potassium citrate, dosed to your pet's weight in a flavored form. Important: a male cat straining and unable to urinate is a life-threatening emergency requiring immediate in-person care — telehealth is for ongoing management, not blockages.
A prescription is not guaranteed. All prescribing decisions are made solely by an independent licensed veterinarian based on their clinical judgment. If the veterinarian determines your pet is not a candidate for telehealth treatment, you will not be charged. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Common questions
When is a urinary issue an emergency?
A male cat straining without producing urine may have a urethral obstruction, which is fatal without immediate treatment. Go to an emergency clinic now — do not wait for a telehealth consult. PawsRx handles chronic management, not emergencies.
Does my pet need a urinalysis first?
Recent lab work helps the veterinarian significantly and can be shared during intake. If the vet needs current diagnostics before prescribing, they'll recommend in-person testing and you won't be charged.
Can diet changes replace medication?
Sometimes diet is a key part of urinary management, and the veterinarian will discuss it honestly — including cases where a prescription diet matters more than medication. The consultation is about the right plan, not just a prescription.
