Anxiety & Behavioral
A calmer pet, without the stressful car ride to get there.
Vet consultation, compounded medication, and free shipping included. Cancel anytime.
Separation anxiety, noise phobias, and general fearfulness affect millions of dogs and cats. Untreated anxiety doesn't just cause barking and destroyed furniture — it genuinely reduces your pet's quality of life. And ironically, the clinic visit to get help is often the most stressful event of your pet's month.
With PawsRx, an independent licensed veterinarian evaluates your pet from home, where their true behavior actually shows. If medication is appropriate, the vet prescribes a compounded behavioral medication in a flavored form your pet takes willingly — no pill-in-cheese wrestling matches.
Signs to look for
- Destructive behavior when left alone
- Trembling, hiding, or panting during storms or fireworks
- Excessive barking, whining, or vocalizing
- House soiling despite being trained
- Aggression or reactivity rooted in fear
- Overgrooming or repetitive behaviors (especially cats)
This list is informational only and is not a diagnosis. Only a licensed veterinarian can evaluate your pet.
How treatment works
The veterinarian may prescribe compounded fluoxetine or trazodone, dosed to your pet's weight and flavored for easy daily administration. Behavioral medication works best alongside training and environmental changes, and your vet can discuss both during the consultation. PawsRx does not prescribe controlled substances.
A prescription is not guaranteed. All prescribing decisions are made solely by an independent licensed veterinarian based on their clinical judgment. If the veterinarian determines your pet is not a candidate for telehealth treatment, you will not be charged. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Common questions
Will anxiety medication change my pet's personality?
Modern behavioral medications are intended to reduce fear and reactivity, not sedate your pet. The veterinarian will discuss expected effects, adjustment timelines, and follow-up during your consultation, and you can message them anytime as your pet adjusts.
Does PawsRx prescribe sedatives or controlled drugs?
No. PawsRx veterinarians do not prescribe controlled substances of any kind. Medications like fluoxetine and trazodone are non-controlled and commonly used in veterinary behavioral medicine.
How long until I see results?
It varies by pet and medication — some behavioral medications take several weeks to reach full effect. Your subscription includes unlimited messaging with the veterinary team so the plan can be adjusted as your pet responds.
