Help your best friend move like themselves again.

Watching a pet slow down from joint pain is heartbreaking — the stairs they avoid, the walks they cut short, the jump onto the couch they no longer attempt. Arthritis affects most senior dogs and a surprising number of cats, and it's one of the most undertreated conditions in pet medicine.

PawsRx makes ongoing pain management manageable: a video consultation with an independent licensed veterinarian, a compounded medication tailored to your pet's weight and needs, and automatic monthly refills so you never lapse on their comfort.

Signs to look for

  • Stiffness after resting, especially in the morning
  • Reluctance to climb stairs, jump, or play
  • Limping or favoring a leg
  • Difficulty standing up or lying down
  • Irritability when touched near joints
  • Cats: no longer jumping to favorite perches, missing the litter box

This list is informational only and is not a diagnosis. Only a licensed veterinarian can evaluate your pet.

How treatment works

Depending on your pet's health history, the veterinarian may prescribe compounded gabapentin or meloxicam at a dose calibrated to your pet's exact weight — critical for seniors and small breeds where commercial strengths force awkward pill-splitting. Liquid and chew formats make daily dosing simple.

A prescription is not guaranteed. All prescribing decisions are made solely by an independent licensed veterinarian based on their clinical judgment. If the veterinarian determines your pet is not a candidate for telehealth treatment, you will not be charged. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Common questions

My dog is a senior with other health issues. Is telehealth safe for them?

The veterinarian reviews your pet's full health history, current medications, and recent bloodwork if available. If they believe your pet needs in-person diagnostics before starting or continuing pain medication, they'll say so — and you won't be charged.

Can cats take arthritis medication?

Yes, though cats require very careful dosing — which is exactly where compounding helps. The veterinarian can prescribe feline-appropriate doses in flavors like tuna that cats accept willingly.

What if the medication needs adjusting?

Message the veterinary team anytime through your dashboard. Dose adjustments are included in your subscription at no extra cost.
